DSTLRY Announces Spectregraph for April 2024

By Josh PiedraDecember 18, 2023

DSTLRY announced SPECTREGRAPH, a cerebral horror masterpiece crafted by multiple Eisner-award-winners James Tynion IV and Christian Ward, with stunning cover art from Ward and Martin Simmonds (The Department of Truth). The first issue will launch in comic books stores in April 2024.

SPECTREGRAPH revolves around an isolated mansion nestled into the coastline, a short drive north of Los Angeles. Rumors have haunted the place for years—its owner a titan of American industry, with a strange fascination in the occult and the paranormal. The richest men and women in the country have whispered to each other, trying to understand what he was building alone in that mansion for all those years. And now finally, with his death, and his estate open for sale… they can finally find out for themselves.

James Tynion IV, celebrated for his Eisner Award-winning work in The Nice House on the Lake, Something Is Killing the Children, and W0RLDTR33, collaborates with acclaimed artist Christian Ward, known for his medium-pushing work in Batman: City of Madness and Invisible Kingdom. Together, they weave a tale that delves deep into the heart of America’s gilded facade, revealing the spectral decay lurking beneath.

“We’ve been cultivating these ideas for years, and we promise a descent into horror like you’ve never seen before—this is a visceral, confrontational take on the haunted house story,” writer & co-creator James Tynion IV explains. “SPECTREGRAPH is an acid-fueled psychedelic nightmare. I can’t wait for everyone to experience it and find themselves haunted by our ghosts, The likes of which have never seen before,” artist & co-creator Ward continues.

“SPECTREGRAPH is more than a ghost story; it’s a journey into the depths of horror and the American psyche.” Chip Mosher and David Steinberger, co-founders of DSTLRY, say in a joint statement. “Tynion IV and Ward have created a narrative that is as haunting as it is insightful. This series epitomizes DSTLRY’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of storytelling and art.”

Teased in the short story of the same name from DSTLRY’s debut anthology, The Devil’s Cut, SPECTREGRAPH is a must-read for fans of cinematic, atmospheric tales such as The Haunting of Hill House and The Conjuring. This series promises to haunt readers with visceral art tethered to a chilling exploration of opulence, power, and corruption. The series will be available for pre-order and will debut in comic shops and digitally via www.dstlry.co in April 2024. Exclusive incentive variant covers and special editions, including the works of Christian Ward and Martin Simmonds, will be announced shortly.
