Dragon Quest & Kirby Air Riders Dominates Japan’s Most Wanted Game Chart

They want to go for a ride in different ways.

Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake, Kirby Air Riders

Every gamer has a “most-wanted” games list in their heads, as they like to know what they’ll be playing soon, or down the road once things finally release. For Famitsu, they don’t put their personal games that they’re looking forward to within their magazines. Instead, they have their readers come forward and list the titles that they want the most. Nintendo Everything posted the latest rankings in that list, and it’s clear the Japanese audience wants the upcoming Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake and Kirby Air Riders.

As you’ll see in the list below, the Dragon Quest remake took the top two spots across the Nintendo Switch and the PS5. If you recall the sales breakdown for the 3rd game’s remake, it did big numbers across those two systems last year, so it makes sense that a similar pattern would repeat itself, especially with the game getting not only a visual overhaul, but a boost in its story.

Famitsu Most Wanted Games List:

1) Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (Switch)
2) Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake (PS5)
3) Kirby Air Riders
4) Pragmata
5) Pokémon Legends: Z-A Switch 2 Edition
6) Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment
7) Pokémon Legends: Z-A
8) Silent Hill f

As for Kirby Air Riders, some might be surprised by that, as this is only the second game in Kirby’s racing spinoff series, and it came out over 20 years ago. It might be because Masahiro Sakurai is making it, and gamers know to trust him. Or, it might be because it’s the next big Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. It’s hard to say.

Pragmata and Pokémon Legends Z-A rounding out the Top 5 is also interesting, but also not necessarily surprising, given past loyalties to both Capcom and The Pokémon Company. As always, we’ll have to see if this translates to great sales for all involved once they launch.
