Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake Gets Special “New Content” Trailer

One of the biggest releases still to come in 2025 is a set of classics from the past that are about to get some new life. Dragon Quest I & II HD-2D Remake will release together in October, and not only will the original titles in the beloved JRPG series get a new coat of paint, but as we’ve covered on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast in the past, there will be key content updates for each title to make them more fleshed out, while still preserving what they were on the NES. Plus, the stories in the titles are also getting a boost, as stated by the remake’s producer.

However, if you want even more insight into what each game will bring, a new trailer focused on said “new content” has dropped.

For example, with Dragon Quest I, aside from the visual overhaul, there will be new characters to meet, dungeons to explore, story elements to unravel, and so on. Sigils will also be in both games and help affect things in battle as well as the story! For long-time fans, Mini-Medals are making their debut in the original titles, and you can trade them for key gear and items to help you grow stronger in your journey.

Heading to Dragon Quest II, there is an all-new map for players to have fun in, the literal ocean floor! Not only will this broaden the game’s scope, but there are new characters, stories, and bosses to see and fight within it! Adding to the fun is a new playable character: The Princess of Cannock!

A new journey unfolds… even for those who thought they knew the tale! ✨
