Digimon Story Time Stranger Sets Special Steam Player Record

When it comes to JRPGs? Digimon is one of the kings!

Digimon Story Time Stranger AX2025 Preview

As I talked about recently on the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast, I was an OG fan of the Digimon franchise. I loved the first few seasons of the anime, I had some of the cards, and I played the first four Digimon World titles. After that, I fell off, but the franchise kept rolling on, thankfully. To that end, Digimon Story Time Stranger was recently released on console and Steam, and my co-host Scott loved it so much that he gave it a 5/5 in his review! While reviews are one thing, player numbers are another, and the Steam numbers for the game are rather surprising.

SteamDB tracks the player counts for games on the service, and currently, the peak for Digimon Story Time Stranger is nearly 71,000 players. That’s pretty cool on its own, but then, GamesRadar did a little digging, and they found out that number tops nearly EVERY JRPG ever put onto Steam, including EVERY Persona title, and every single-player game in the Final Fantasy franchise. The only ones to top it were Metaphor ReFantazio and Granblue Fantasy: Relink.

Granted, the other franchises likely had bigger sales on console, but the high numbers on Steam could point to a similar thing happening with Digimon. The Steam store page for the game also has over 1000 reviews, with them showing off a “Very Positive” rating. So, positive word of mouth could further carry the game to further success.

Given how Scott’s talked about it…I’m definitely tempted to get it myself.
