One of my most desired ports for Nintendo Switch 2 was Digimon Story Time Stranger. At the Nintendo Partner Direct today, I got one of my wishes to come true as Bandai Namco announced a port for not just Nintendo Switch 2, but also for the original Nintendo Switch.
Some big surprises for the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. The Nintendo Switch 2 upgrade is free if you buy the Nintendo Switch version physically. Also, the Nintendo Switch 2 version has two settings. Quality mode, which is 4k and 30 FPS. Or you can choose Performance mode, which is a dynamic resolution but with 60 fps. The surprising thing about this reveal is that on PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, there was only one mode, 4k and 30 FPS.
PS5 and Xbox Series X|S console users don’t have to feel left out, though, as the Digimon Twitter account has announced that the 60 FPS performance mode will also be released on those consoles.
The Quality Mode and Performance Mode features implemented in the Nintendo Switch 2 version will also be implemented in the PlayStation®5 and Xbox Series X versions.
Details will be announced at a later date, so please wait a little longer.— Digimon Games (@digimon_games) February 5, 2026
Getting Digimon Story Time Stranger is a real home run for the audience of this game, creature collector fans, and Nintendo. If you want to read more about the game itself, take a look at the review on the site.
Digimon Story Time Stranger will release on June 10th, 2026, on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2. It is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC.
