Death Battle Summons Our Childhoods With Ash Vs Yugi!

Pikachu, it's time for a D-D-D-D-D-Death Battle!
By Todd BlackDecember 7, 2025
Ash vs Yugi, Death Battle

There are many reasons I love Death Battle. I love the creativity they have with the episodes and the battles. I love the passion that they put into every single episode, even in ways we don’t realize until we see them unfurl. Most of all, though, I love the rush it gives me when some of my favorite characters clash in epic battles that I can’t help but watch on repeat. Today, the 2025 finale dropped, and it was a match decades in the making, as Ash vs Yugi finally graced our screens.

That’s right, we finally got to see Pokémon and Yu-Gi-Oh go at it in a clash for the ages. Now, before you watch the episode, yes, there are specific rules for this fight, both in terms of the lore used and how the battle itself is handled. They made sure to explain it all, and what we get will definitely bring tears to your child-like heart…it certainly did to mine.

So, without further ado, watch Ash vs Yugi below!

And…that does it for Death Battle this year. Much like their return in the “indie era,” there will be a small gap between now and the next episode (which we only got the smallest of glimpses of…), but they did promise 12 episodes next year, and I can’t wait!

In the meantime…be on the lookout for a series of features and lists that I make in the next month or so. What’s the first topic? Oh…nothing much…I’m just going to RANK EVERY EPISODE OF THE INDIE ERA!!! See you soon.
