Daredevil Born Again Confirms That Jessica Jones Is Coming Back For Season 2!

She's back! And you need to pay her bill!

Daredevil Born Again, Jessica Jones

It’s very easy to forget about the other Netflix/Marvel collaborations outside of Daredevil because that one was the best of the lot. It just was. However, two other shows from that original set (not including Punisher) of series was really good, too, and had definitive live-action interpretations of key Marvel characters via the incredible actors that played them. Daredevil Born Again Season 2 has positioned itself to be a “reunion” for a certain group of Defenders, and today, we got confirmation that Krysten Ritter is returning as Jessica Jones.

The Hollywood Reporter noted this, as Disney was doing their upfronts, and confirmed the return. They didn’t confirm the return of Mike Colter as Luke Cage or Finn Jones as Danny Rand, but the possibility is still there. Brad Winderbaum, Marvel’s head of television and animation, had this to say about it:

“It’s about not rushing and telling the best story. Yes, it’s exciting to think about characters interacting, but it’s about the reasons why. At times we’ve done that very well, at times we’ve rushed. The story has to lead the path.”

For those who haven’t read my Daredevil Born Again Season 1 review, the season ended with a harsh crackdown on “Vigilante Justice” by Kingpin, complete with an anti-vigilante task force made up of corrupt cops. Many felt that Matt Murdock would call in some “old friends” to help combat him (as Kingpin is the mayor of New York City), and we may be getting that.

Ritter was brilliant as Jessica Jones in her series, and I felt it was easily the No.2 show of the Netflix series. She brought a raw, emotional performance that helped make Jessica feel unlike any character we’d seen portrayed from the comics.

We’ll find out next year how much she helps in the battle for New York!
