One of the beautiful things about the video game industry is that you don’t always know what’s going to be a huge hit until you’re playing the game and realize that both you and everyone you know online are enjoying it, too. In the case of Clair Obscur Expedition 33, no one expected this title to be a huge success. It was the first title of the newly formed Sandfall Interactive, and the team itself wasn’t as big as many other studios. So, what could they really do? As our review noted, they could make greatness!
The game is still the highest-rated new game of 2025 on Metacritic, and it’s sold over 3 million copies since its release. The only thing it hasn’t done…is turn one of its stars into a gamer. That star being Charlie Cox, who you might know as Daredevil from Marvel. He voiced one of the main characters in Clair Obscur Expedition 33, and yet, as he noted in the convention interview below, he really didn’t make much of it at first, and as a result, he feels like a “total fraud” because he didn’t understand the success that it would soon get:
“And people keep saying how amazing it is and congratulations and I feel like a total fraud”

We’re not going to punish Cox for not realizing the “inevitable truth” about the game…mainly because it wasn’t inevitable. Seriously, NO ONE CALLED that Sandfall would make a game this great the first time around. The team is now an inspiration for many who want to do unique, bold titles that pay tribute to all that came before.
If the game does get a sequel, and Cox is brought back for one reason or another, we’re sure he’ll put “a little extra” into it.
