You might remember a “report” from not too long ago that said that while the Nintendo Switch 2 was crushing it on the hardware front with its sales, the software side was a bit more “ambiguous.” We know that Mario Kart World sold incredibly well (read my review!) and that the Switch 2 Edition ports are doing well, too. However, the 3rd-party games appear to be “struggling” in some cases. While this is easily explained away, there is one clear-cut winner of the 3rd-party titles, and it’s Cyberpunk 2077. The game has been at the top of digital and physical sales charts where the Switch 2 is concerned, and now, even CD Projekt Red is noting that.
As posted on Reset Era, CD Projekt Joint CEO, Michał Nowakowski, had this to say about the game’s sales and potential future success:
“We are pleased that the Switch 2 version of Cyberpunk 2077 is now one of the best-selling titles in physical distribution, just behind Nintendo itself. At the same time, it is worth remembering that this console has its own specificity – players mainly reach for first-party titles here and they definitely dominate in terms of sales volumes. In our case, we hope that the sales of Cyberpunk 2077 on Nintendo Switch 2 will be more spread out over time, unlike our usual large releases on other platforms.”
So, yeah, they seem to be on board with how the game is doing so far, and as time goes on and the Nintendo Switch 2 sells more units, there will be possibly even more long-term success for the title. Hopefully, this means that CD Projekt Red will bring more games to the console in the future…
