Call Of Duty: Black Ops 7 Shows Up With Bombastically Weird Trailer At Gamescom 2025

Earlier today, gaming fans around the world were treated to Geoff Keighley’s Opening Night Live, the curtain raiser for Gamescom 2025. One thing we knew going in was that Xbox and Activision would be showing off the upcoming Call of Duty: Black Ops 7. However, what we were shown was much weirder than I expected.

Take a look at the latest trailer below:

As expected for Call of Duty, this is a highly cinematic, bombastic trailer also featuring snippets of gameplay. However, what caught me by surprise is just how far into the weird Black Ops 7 campaign seems to be heading, and I’m all for it.

With what looks like shifting realities, sci-fi elements, and more. It doesn’t really feel like a Black Ops game, and at first glance looks like it has more in common with Infinite Warfare in terms of gameplay, since we see robots, jetpacks, and more futuristic-style weapons at times throughout the trailer. It’s important to mention that the trailer also shows flashes of zombie mode and what looks like multiplayer, but the bulk of it seemed to focus on the single-player campaign.

Of course, we won’t know for sure exactly what gameplay is like or how the story is shaping up until we get a deeper look and hands-on the sticks.

That being said, Black Ops 6 delivered one of the most original and interesting single-player campaigns for Call of Duty in a long time. Thanks to some oddly mind-bending sections that stood out, and if Black Ops 7 is continuing that trend, we could be in for a special game. This year, you’ll also be able to play the campaign in co-op, which should offer a nice change.

Here’s what the Xbox Wire says regarding Call of Duty: Black Ops 7‘s campaign:

Fan-favorite David Mason returns, leading an elite Black Ops squad on a covert mission to the sprawling Mediterranean city of Avalon. Players can squad up or play solo in a mind-bending Co-Op Campaign that spans neon-lit rooftops in Japan, coastal strongholds, and even the deepest corners of the human psyche.

Alongside this trailer, we got confirmation that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will release on November 14th, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Xbox on PC, Xbox Cloud, Xbox Play Anywhere, Day One On Game Pass – also available on Battle.net, Steam, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4.

Jordan has been playing games since the age of six. This ignited a passion which initially led him towards game development before trying his hand in the realm of games media, starting in 2022. It turns out he's quite good at it, even if he doesn't always believe in himself. Now, just a few short years later, not only is Jordan a valued member of our staff here at The Outerhaven, but he also co-owns and helps to run Analog Stick Gaming.
