At the Blue Lock Egoist Fest earlier today, it was revealed that the sequel to the TV anime Blue Lock is in development. No additional details have been announced, so it is unclear if the sequel will be a television anime series or a theatrical anime release.
At the same event, Toho announced that a live-action film is currently in production and is scheduled for release in summer 2026. The film is being produced by Credeus, who previously worked on live-action projects for Golden Kamuy and Kingdom.
The first season began airing in Fall 2022 and received an 8.16 score on MyAnimeList. The second season aired in Fall 2024 and received a 7.54 score. Studio Eight Bit produced a movie prior to season two’s release titled Blue Lock: Episode Nagi, which received a 7.29 score.
The original manga by Muneyuki Kaneshiro and Yusuke Nomura will release its 35th volume in November and has more than 45 million copies in circulation.
