Bandai Namco Wants Elden Ring to Ruin Your Valentine’s Day Plans

Or make it better if you're oh so loney.

Bandai Namco Elden Ring Valentines Day Ruin

You’ve got to hand it to Bandai Namco’s marketing team—they know exactly what they’re doing. With this weekend’s Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree – Nightreign Network Test kicking off on Valentine’s Day, of all days, you’d think this would spell trouble for anyone in a relationship. And what does Bandai Namco do? They lean into the chaos.

They know you want to play Elden Ring. It’s the immovable object vs. the unstoppable force—your love for the game against your Valentine’s Day obligations.

But instead of apologizing, Bandai Namco fully embraces the conflict with a trailer that speaks directly to those of us who just can’t resist the call of the Lands Between. And honestly? It’s hilarious because it’s true. I know I want to dive into the game—even though I also know that if I don’t celebrate with my wife, there could be… consequences. Oh, who am I kidding. I’m trying to play as much a the network test as I can. I’ll deal with the punishment, later.

Unless you aren’t in a relationship. Then, of course, get your Elden Ring on.

Check out the trailer below.

Elden Ring Nightreign is an exciting new chapter in the Elden Ring universe, offering a bold twist on the franchise’s formula. Unlike the original Elden Ring or its expansion, Shadow of the Erdtree, this adventure introduces a roguelike structure. Players, either solo or in teams of up to three, must spend three in-game days preparing to face a mysterious boss on the final night. Success unlocks new challenges, while failure forces a complete reset, staying true to the high-stakes roguelike gameplay we’ve grown to love.

Elden Ring Nightreign will be released on May 30th, 2025, for PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC (Steam).
