If you haven’t noticed, it appears that this month has been “the month of delays.” Previously, we heard that Rockstar Games was delaying GTA 6 to November 2026, which hurt a lot of people, as it was supposed to be released in May 2026. Now, though, it’s not alone in its delaying tactics.
According to Deadline, Marvel Studios has officially pushed the release dates of Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars from May 2026 and 2027, respectively, to December 2026 & 2027. So, yeah, if you were anticipating enjoying the films before the Summer blockbuster season, you’re out of luck.
So, why the delay? Well, not unlike with Rockstar Games, Marvel Studios felt they just needed more time to iron things out due to the massive scale of the project. That’s fair, especially given criticisms of recent “phases” of the Marvel Cinematic Universe where the VFX wasn’t on par with previous films, and the stories were…well…let’s just say…they weren’t the best.
Many expect Avengers Doomsday and Avengers Secret Wars to be the things that help “reboot” the MCU in one form or another, but they can’t do that if they aren’t able to “set the board” in a way that will keep people coming to theaters.
Hopefully, this is the last delay.
