Atomfall Offers Up Official Narrated Gameplay Trailer

By Andrew AgressFebruary 28, 2025
Atomfall trailer

If there’s one thing we’ve gotten from Atomfall, it’s trailers. Rebellion has shared a few recently as the game’s release date approaches. This time it premiered a new trailer for IGN Fan Fest. And perhaps there’s another reason. There are a few post-apocalyptic open-world games out there, so Atomfall may want you to know what makes it different.

Ben Fisher, head of Design at Rebellion, narrates the latest trailer. Fisher takes us on a deep dive into the world and gameplay of Atomfall. The trailer shows off combat, player decision-making, stealth, survival, and scavenging. Check it out here:

While the trailer is short, it does go over quite a few mechanics for the survival action game. We see the player character entering a building, going into stealth to avoid combat, and gathering items for crafting and learning lore.

Fisher notes that ammo will be “an extremely prized possession.” It will be interesting to see how plentiful ammo will be when Atomfall arrives next month. Survival games can vary when it comes to scavenging. The game may encourage trying different weapons or using wits over combat when possible.

And in fact, the trailer ends with a look at combat. The player character does in fact cycle through weapons quickly to preserve ammo. We see a stealth takedown, a rifle shot, a shotgun blast, and some good old-fashion cricket bat crackdowns.

While the trailer doesn’t go into much in the way of story details, Rebellion promises a story-rich world. The studio discusses the setting thusly:

Set in the aftermath of a nuclear disaster, Atomfall tasks players with solving the mystery of what happened at the Windscale nuclear power station. To solve this, you will need to navigate military encampments, delve through abandoned bunkers below ground, and risk your life in Pagan ruins.

We’ll see what else Atomfall has in store when in release on March 27th. The game comes out for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store. It will arrive Day One on Game Pass.
