Are We Getting Multiplayer Battles In Pokemon Legends Z-A?

Adapting to the modern world?
By Todd BlackJuly 29, 2025
Pokemon Legends Z-A

In many ways, Pokemon Legends Z-A is a very unique entry in the franchise. It’s attempting to expand what Pokemon Legends Arceus did on the Switch, while also making it feel like its own thing. However, that doesn’t mean that it’s not learning from the mainline titles, especially after the buggy issues that happened with Gen 9. To that end, an entry on the game’s official site, Nintendo pointed out that there would be a “Link Play” menu, and in that menu would be where you can get the traditional “Mystery Gift.”

Why is that interesting? Arceus didn’t have multiplayer, as it was rooted in a special single-player experience. Yet, here it seems that Pokemon Legends Z-A will embrace the more “social setting” of Lumiose City to potentially allow multiplayer fights.

Nintendo may have spoiled that Pokémon Legends: Z-A is gonna have some kind of online mode.

Obviously, all of this is unconfirmed, so take this with a grain of salt until Nintendo or The Pokemon Company unveils something officially. However, it IS real, then we might be having even more fun in the game when it drops on October 16th.
