Anime Expo 2025: VTuber Group Nova Makes Surprise Debut

By Josh PiedraJuly 5, 2025

NOVA is a new four-member VTuber group from the popular US-based agency VShojo. They made a surprise debut announcement and held their first event at Anime Expo 2025 in Los Angeles, one of the world’s largest anime conventions with around 400,000 attendees annually.

Kicking off with the surprise announcement at Anime Expo 2025, NOVA officially launched their music career under a new label, UNIVOLT, created in collaboration with Universal Music.

NOVA is VShojo’s first Japanese-speaking VTuber group, consisting of Akatsuki Hotaru, Hestia Happiness, Okamoto Nagi, and Yutori Peke. They made their livestream debut in November 2024, drawing attention as part of VShojo’s full-scale entry into the Japanese market. Set in a fantasy world where they travel through a post-apocalyptic parallel universe, each of the group’s four unique characters has their own background and profession. They primarily stream in Japanese on YouTube and Twitch.

Their debut track, “Starry Connection,” was released today at 13:00 (JST), alongside its official music video. It features a Japanese hyper pop sound that highlights the unique personalities of all four members. The lyrics were written by utumiyqcom, who appeared on Rap Star, and the music was composed by up-and-coming Vocaloid producer Tokyo Manaka. The song is packed with NOVA’s signature flair, even incorporating the members’ names into the lyrics. The music video, produced by Toei Zukun Laboratory, vividly brings NOVA’s fantasy world to life.
