Anime Expo 2025: COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing

By Josh PiedraJuly 23, 2025

“COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing” held a special screening during Anime Expo 2025, which took place in Los Angeles from July 3 to July 6. This first theatrical anime from the mobile game “HATSUNE MIKU: COLORFUL STAGE!” brought together hundreds of enthusiastic overseas fans. After the screening, a special talk session featured four of the film’s cast members: Karin Isobe (Voice of Tenma Saki), Yuki Nakashima (Voice of Hinomori Shiho), Fumiya Imai (Voice of Shinonome Akito), and Kent Ito (Voice of Aoyagi Toya), who were deeply moved by the overwhelming support from fans in Los Angeles.

COLORFUL STAGE!

One SEKAI Across the World: A Cheer Screening Filled with Light and Emotion

The event opened with a cheer screening of the film, instantly transforming the venue into a concert-like experience with penlights waving and cheers echoing throughout the space. As the final scene played, the excitement in the room only grew, setting the stage for the cast to take their place on stage to thunderous applause.

When asked about the audience reactions, Isobe remarked, “Even from backstage, we could hear your voices. It really warmed my heart to experience that kind of energy unique to overseas fans.” Nakashima added, “It made me really happy to feel your excitement firsthand!”

Imai commented, “It was such a joy to hear your cheers and reactions to each scene and song.” Ito reflected, “Seeing your happy faces made me emotional. I was moved to tears.”

Highlights and Heartfelt Reflections from the Cast

During the Q&A portion, the cast shared their favorite moments from the film. Isobe recalled, “The concert scene was a must-see.” Nakashima shared her favorite: “There’s a scene where everyone is getting blown out the window, and Tsukasa is trying not to fly away – I loved that part!” The audience responded with laughter and applause.

Imai pointed to the performance by Vivid BAD SQUAD: “Our unit goes first in the film, and the director reminded us of that during recording. It really stuck with me.”

Ito called out “Perfect Miku,” the version of Hatsune Miku that appears after her emotional release at the end of the movie. His coined phrase, “Perfect Miku,” drew laughter and cheers from the crowd.

The cast were then asked what keeps them motivated, inspired by Miku’s determination in the film. Isobe, who loves to eat, said, “Since coming to L.A., it’s been meat, cheese, meat, cheese!”

Nakashima gave a playful response: “COLORFUL STAGE!… and maybe a few other games, too.”

Imai revealed, “I go to karaoke three or four times a week. Sometimes for four or five hours!” The crowd gasped in surprise.

Ito, also a fan of singing, said, “As a voice actor, I do a lot of shouting in my roles. My inspiration for that? Steven Tyler. Singing Aerosmith songs helps train my voice.” He even let out a shout on stage, which the audience returned with loud cheers.

A Message to the World

As the event drew to a close, each cast member shared a heartfelt message to fans:

Isobe: “Meeting overseas fans in person for the first time was such a joy. I truly felt how deeply this work is loved around the world. I love you!”

Nakashima: “I was so happy to finally meet you here in L.A. I always see comments from international fans during our livestreams, and it means a lot knowing some of you are here today. Please keep playing COLORFUL STAGE!”

Imai: “Coming to L.A. really showed me how many people support this series. I hope we can meet again and have another great time together.”

Ito: “Your passion is what keeps us going. Please continue to send us your love and energy!”

“COLORFUL STAGE! The Movie: A Miku Who Can’t Sing” will be released on Blu-ray in Japan on October 29, 2025. A North American release is also planned. Fans around the world will soon be able to enjoy this new story of Hatsune Miku and her friends from the comfort of their own homes.
