It’s Saturday, you know what that means. AEW Collision is back to entertain the masses! I had a feeling that this show was going to have at least seven matches, just like the previous week…and I was right! With that in mind, let’s start the AEW Collision Recap!
We started off watching vignettes by Tiny Stoke, Jetspeed, LFI, Eddie Kingston, Anny Jay, OC and Paragon, and Pac. Pac had a serious talk with OC about having a match for good old times’ sake for next Tuesday on Dynamite. One that would just be 1-on-1, no interference! Now that’s how you start off the show!
Our first match was between The Deathriders (Mox, Garcia, Claudio) vs Jay Lethal, Adam Priest, and Tommy Billington. Poor Tommy was getting triple-teamed. Oh dear, Claudio chucked Priest to the barricade. That wasn’t very nice, Claudio! To add insult to injury, Mox was eating Adam’s head. Um…yum?
The crowd had some serious heat with Daniel. Speaking of Daniel, I would love to see a 1-on-1 with Tommy. With the assist from Mox, Danny pinned Lethal with a Dragon Slayer. After the match, Matt Menard was screaming profanities at Daniel. Calm as a cucumber, Daniel stonewalled him. We should call him the Stonewall Pit Bull.
Sick of Matt’s crying, Daniel finally grabbed the mic and disowned him by calling him a Loser! Apparently, he doesn’t want a taste!
Renee was backstage to check the status of Nick Wayne’s injury. The trainer was disrespected once he suggested another 6-8 weeks of recovery time. Who does he think he is?! You tell him, Wolverine Nick!
The second match was between Anna Jay and Jamie Hayter. Anna had improved by leaps and bounds since her AEW debut, and it showed here. The dynamic was interesting because they were both babyfaces. Jamie connected with the Hayterade (and Anna’s nose) to secure the victory after a fun match.
Lexi caught up with Max Caster. Big Bill interrupted the conversation and reminded Max that he had never beaten him. Anthony showed up to flaunt his accomplishments. Bryan Keith offered a 2-on-2 challenge next week, next Tuesday. Max and Anthony were still salty about being called the Acclaimed. I’m sure deep down, they will kiss and make up…just not right now.
There was a clip of the IWGP women’s champion Sareee hyping up a match with Alex Windsor at ROH next week. This is big because Sareee is arguably one of the top 5 active women’s wrestlers today. I mean, this is for the sickos. Plus, they wouldn’t be pushing her on ROH if she wasn’t going to show up at a place like…say…WrestleDream…?
The third match was between LFI (Sammy & Rush) vs Shayne Stetson & Cha Cha Charlie. I have a feeling that this match would end rather quickly. Rush made quick use of the barricades. Sammy pinned Cha Cha with a flushed Swanton. That looked painful.
After the match, Eddie appeared immediately to face Dralistico. Dralistico had a cool-looking mask…just saying. He was doing his homework tonight by aiming for Eddie’s surgically repaired knee. Eddie fought back and looked better than he did in his first match. He pinned Dralistco with a Uraken, but I don’t think these factions are done messing with each other just yet.
MxM TV appeared afterwards. I really love their theme music. I’m so happy that they had some AEW TV time. MXM TV offered an open challenge to anyone who wanted to face them. But it looked like they barked up the wrong tree. Their opponents were Konosuke Takeshita, Josh Alexander, and Kyle Fletcher! Yikes! I liked the sound effects of El Clon. Mason Madden is one big dude and has moves to match. Mansoor was being destroyed by all three of them, and eventually, he was pinned by Kyle.
Lexi spoke with Dalton and The Outrunners. They are looking to contend for the trios titles. I hope they play a bigger role soon. BOYS!!! Let’s go get some titles!!
Queen Aminata and Jamie Hayter were attacked backstage by the Triangle of Madness. Blood and Guts can’t come soon enough! The question is, who will fill out the rest of the squads?
The sixth match was between Kevin Knight and Dax Harwood. Kevin landed a sweet rana to the crowd. It seemed as if Dax was having issues with his nose. He should wear a protective face mask. After a nice match, Kevin scored a huge win by landing a UFO splash over Small Stokley! That was definitely an upset!
The Babe with the Power, Willow Nightingale, was about to deliver her Babe with the Bomb to Small Stoke, but Megan Bayne saved him. Could this lead to a future match? Maybe another part of the build to Blood & Guts…?
In a vignette, Sky Flight was being promoted as challengers for the ROH Trios Champions STP. I’m looking forward to a buildup for that match. Plus, Ring of Honor was getting promoted HEAVILY on Collision tonight. Is that a sign of things to come?
Up next was a side-by-side talk with Stat-Daddy and Timeless Toni Storm. And by “side-by-side,” I mean on the mat…flat on their backs. Yes, it was just as hilarious as it sounds.
Stat stated that she would defend their championship with all of her might. A disheveled Toni warned that she needed the title as it gave her life. An impromptu fight ensued, but Triangle of Madness came to destroy both of them. Harley surprised Thekla from behind to even the numbers. A new match was made for Collision Homecoming: Statlander, Toni, Harley vs Triangle of Madness.
The main event was a trios match between Hechicero, Lance Archer, and Rocky Romero vs Paragon and OC. It was good to hear Pixies again. Kyle O’ Reilly vs Hechicero would make a great singles match. Lance was using OC as a battering ram, while Rocky attempted his sneaky style roll-ups with zero success. Kyle was able to tap out Rocky. After the match, the rest of the DCF arrived to perform a standoff to end the show.
They’re really building up the Don Callis Family as the “epic threat” in AEW now. Where will everything lead, and how will it build to WrestleDream in just two weeks time?
Well, that’s all, folks! Let us know in the comments below how you felt about tonight’s show and my AEW Collision recap!!
