It’s been something that people have been looking forward to all year, and this time, All Elite Wrestling cranked it up to the very max!!! I’m Todd, here once again for a special AEW recap, but this time, it’s for AEW Blood and Guts 2025! Let’s get right to the madness, shall we?

(Note: this will be a shorter recap because…well…there were only three matches…and I’m not gonna recap EVERYTHING that happened in all of it. Just watch it yourself for all the epic action!)

The question for AEW Blood and Guts 2025 was “Who would go first?”And the answer was…

Yep, the LADIES!!!! I’ll admit, I was a little torn about this at first, but it made sense for them to go first so that they could set the standard and prove that they are the ones that need to be topped.

Needless to say, they CRUSHED IT. No joke. No bias. If it was bad, everyone would’ve talked about it, but that’s NOT what happened. Instead, from the very first combatants, we saw just how violent the match was going to be, as Sky Blue (no doubt happily) got her “crimson mask” mere minutes into the bout.

…yeah, she definitely was excited to be in this match. And the pacing of the women’s Blood and Guts was really good throughout. They brought in everyone at the right time, they had big moments, and the crowd was absolutely into it. One of my favorite parts was easily when the crowd did the “This Is Awesome” chant, because they absolutely deserved it.

And again, they weren’t afraid to show violence…

…while also bringing back an old friend to torment the PWI #1 Women’s Wrestler of 2025…

I was very curious how the match would end, and when Toni Storm surrendered to save her “wife,” Mina, it made perfect sense. After all, she’s lost everything BUT her, so she couldn’t bear to lose her wife, too…

Oh, but the best part? The match, by my count, went nearly 47 minutes! That makes it officially the longest women’s match in AEW history. Congrats ladies. You deserve all the accolades that are coming.

So…after all of that, could AEW keep things rolling? Uh, yes. Yes, they could.

This was an unexpected delight to have as the “intermission” for the Blood and Guts matches, and you’d think that a “Falls Count Anywhere” match wouldn’t really add much to the violence of the night…but you’d be wrong.

The match was absolutely enjoyable, full of moments that couldn’t have happened in the cage, including this nice moment:

…or this absolutely brutal move that would result in the end of the match…

Cinema. Never, EVER doubt All Elite Wrestling, you hear me????!!!?!?

And as if all of that wasn’t enough, after Shibata and Joe tried to “pick the bones,” Eddie and Hook came in with the save…making a fun stipulation for Full Gear in the process…

Before we head to the final AEW Blood and Guts 2025 match, let’s talk “storytelling,” because the Don Callis Family laid out Jungle Express to show their “value” to the Young Bucks…who still are on the fence about being with them.

Then, later on, they brought out the one and only Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat to talk about the greatness of wrestling in NORTH CAROLINA!!!! …oh, wait, wasn’t Ric Flair supposed to be there? Guess something happened… Thank you, Tony.

Anyway, FTR naturally interrupted, insulted, and then tried to hurt Ricky, so Brodido came out for the save once again!

And now…the main event of AEW Blood and Guts 2025…

…the men’s match. Ironically, because of how good the women did, and the great Falls Count Anywhere match, the guys had a LOT to match and live up to.

Don’t worry, though, they did just that. One of the things people forget about AEW is that they know how to “shake things up” so no two matches are the same, even with an event like Blood & Guts. For example, having Mark Briscoe getting “taken out” by the Don Callis Family to throw off their “order” was a nice touch. Naturally, Mark came back in the clutch moments, but you could feel the “anger” in the crowd when they thought it would be 5-on-4 for the rest of the match.

Furthermore, having Moxley come in 4th and not last was a great move, and I loved how commentary called out the “surprise” of it all.

Oh, and what the heck was this “Super Swing” from Claudio???

And you HAD TO KNOW that we’d get a couple of them duking it out on the top of the cage!!!

Or…maybe you wanted to see some really UNIQUE violence to a certain “Freshly Squeezed” one?

And just when you thought you’d seen it all, Gabe Kidd showed up and helped set Darby Allin up for…well…this…

I love wrestling. And in that moment, you could’ve SWORN that the good guys were going down. Darby was done, the others were injured, the Death Riders had all the advantages…but THEY REFUSED TO GIVE UP!!!

One by one, the group came alive and it ended in a wonderful moment and a perfect finish for both the match, and the storyline that the Death Riders have been going through since All In Texas.

Yep! Mox officially tapped! No fakeouts, no DQs, no countdowns, he TAPPED! I loved that.

Needless to say, AEW Blood and Guts 2025 will be remembered for all the right reasons. Three great matches, 114 minutes-ish of incredible wrestling, and we still got Full Gear in 10 days! AEW is the home of professional wrestling, and this helped establish that once again. Let me know what you thought of my recap in the comments below!
