Absolum Surpasses 200,000 Copies Sold in Its First Week

By Keith MitchellOctober 17, 2025

One of my favorite games of the year has sold over 200,000 copies worldwide, and that’s no small feat for a roguelike beat ’em up. Yes, I’m referring to Absolum, as Dotemu announced via Twitter that the game reached that milestone within its first week of release.

Over 200,000 adventurers have set foot in Talamh.
From all of the Absolum’s team — thank you for being part of this journey! ✨

Now, you’re probably thinking, “Well, it’s only 200,000 copies, that’s not a big deal.” Except it is. Not only is this a brand-new IP, but it is also a niche title that launched alongside juggernauts such as Hades II, Battlefield 6, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Ghost of Yotei, and Digimon Story: Time Stranger, just to name a few. Given that level of competition, selling that many copies is definitely a win for Dotemu and Absolum.

And yes, I am going to say it, not having the game available on Xbox may have limited its potential sales. I am not sure why it is not on the platform, but I wish it was, so more people could experience it.

Still, as a roguelike beat ’em up adventure, Absolum checks all the boxes for me, and I have loved playing the heck out of it. I have clocked nearly 50 hours so far, and I do not see myself stopping anytime soon.

Kudos to Dotemu, Guard Crush Games, and Supamonk on creating this masterpiece, and fingers crossed that Absolum continues to do well. Hopefully, we will get some DLC down the road; I still need to find out what Karl means when he says “the process takes 27 cycles.”

Also, be sure to check out The Outerhaven’s Absolum review, by none other than me. I thought the game was pretty much perfect and I couldn’t… wait, I can’t put this game down. I might need an intervention or something.

Now, maybe figure out how to get this gem onto Xbox, so Xbox gamers can check out the game as well.
