Pokemon Nintendo Direct Recap and Breakdown!

Pokemon Nintendo Direct Pokken Tournament DX reveal image

Well, the Pokemon Nintendo Direct game, and the Pokemon Nintendo Direct went, but in the 8-minutes that it was on, the Pokemon and Nintendo teams let loose a slew of announcements for both the Nintendo Switch and the Nintendo 3DS.

First off, there is indeed going to be a Pokemon game for Nintendo Switch this year, and it’s Pokken Tournament DX, yep, another upgraded port. Much like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, it’s taking the original version, and adding all the DLC from the previous title, and adding some new online features. Character wise, Darkrai, Scizor, Empoleon, and Croagunk are coming. But in a fun twist, Decidueye from Pokemon Sun/Moon is being added as an all-new character. Furthermore, in the online features, there will now be a Ranked Battle mode, or a Friendly Match, or a Group Match! So it’s clear the Nintendo team is making sure that this is a true “deluxe” edition. Pokken Tournamnet DX will release on September 22nd.

Moving onto the 3DS, though a lot of footage wasn’t shown, we can confirm that Pokemon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are coming on November 17th. What we know so far is that these will feature an “alternative story” to the original Sun and Moon games, and will indeed feature enhanced versions of Solgaleo and Lunala….which look kind of familiar depending on how much endgame content you played. Also, on the Pokemon website, there is a tagline saying, “A New Light Shines On Alola!”

Finally, it’s been revealed that the original Pokemon Gold and Pokemon Silver games will be coming to the Nintendo 3DS Virtual Consoles on September 22nd, the same day Pokken Tournament DX launches. These will be fully accurate to the original titles, graphics and all, and all Pokemon you get in this Virtual Console ports will be compatible with the Pokemon Bank.

These were some bold moves from Nintendo for sure. So, what do you think about what was revealed in the Pokemon Nintendo Direct? Let us know in the comments below!
