Fire Emblem Echoes Could Be Gateway To More Modern Remakes

By Todd BlackApril 26, 2017
Alm and Celica Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia

For Fire Emblem fans, when Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia was announced, it was curious that the word “Echoes” was used in the game title. Shadow of Valentia is a reference to the actual world in the game in which will be in, but what did “Echoes” mean? Was it simply a note of how the past was coming to the present? Or was it something more?

Well, if a member of the development team is to be believed, it’ll be the latter. For Serenes Forest has unearthed an interview in which one of the team says:

“We put a lot of thought into a title like ‘echoes’ that can let older games ‘echo’ with the modern players. We were very pleased with it, and, if there were to be more remakes, we would likely use the “ECHOES” title again.”

Now, if you’re wondering what games could be remade next under the Fire Emblem Echoes banner, there’s Genealogy of the Holy War, Thracia 776, and Binding Blade. Of course, there’s also Mystery Of The Emblem, which was a sequel to the original Fire Emblem game that featured Marth, and has never been brought overseas, even when a remake was made for the DS, it only released in Japan.

We here at Outerhaven would LOVE to see these remakes, and we’ve noted in many episodes of the Nintendo Entertainment Podcast that we want these remakes to happen, and if it happens under the title of Fire Emblem Echoes? By all means!

Shadows of Valentia will release for Nintendo 3DS May 19th.
