Quake Champions Closed Beta Starts on April 6th

By Keith MitchellApril 3, 2017

Get ready Quake fans! We’ve got wind that the Quake Champions closed beta will start up as soon as April 6th, 2017. This info comes from the Quake Champions Twitter account. Invites will be sent out next week and it seems this will start out smaller, with more gamers being added later.

Quake Champions is a PC only title, as it was designed with the PC gamer in mind. Features included 144Mhz monitor support, 4K resolution, 120+ frames per second and will include the Vulkan API. The game will also be free-to-play, with microtransactions that will let players “rent” characters.

If you haven’t signed up for the closed beta, it’s not too late. Click here to head over to the Quake Champions closed beta sign up. IDSoftware and Bethesda are aiming this title to recapture the magic that made the original Quake games so much fun. On top fo that, they are looking to position this directly into the Esports scene.

The title is expected to be released sometime during 2017.

I really do hope I get picked to check it out, sooner than later. I’ve played Quake since the good old days. You know, when it was Quake vs Unreal Tournament, the battle of which twitch-based shooter was the best. Though I’ll admit that I’m a bit rusty and haven’t played Quake Online in a long time. Can’t wait to jump back into the fray and get wasted.
