Tickets for Your Name Now On Sale

By Josh PiedraMarch 11, 2017
your name

Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name (Kimi no Na wa) may have missed Oscar nomination, but you can see the film for yourself starting on April 7 if you are lucky enough to live near a select theater.  If you do live near a theater, tickets are now in the pre-sale phase on FUNimation’s website.

Rather than just giving you a list of theaters, you can type in your ZIP Code into a tool that will tell you if there are theaters in your area playing the film. It’s kind of like winning the lottery, if you think about it.

Reviews of the film have, so far, been positive (as expected)

“this vividly realized and emotionally satisfying feature ought to make Shinkai a household name”

-Variety

“Makoto Shinkai could be the next big name in anime… a blend of gorgeous, realistic detail and emotionally grounded fantasy”

-Japan Times

“The story soars majestically across the screen via breathtaking animation and is even more epic and grandiose than some of Ghibli genius Hayao Miyazaki’s features.”

-HeyUGuys

“Hailing Makoto Shinkai as the new Hayao Miyazaki has been en vogue for a while. It’s easy to see why… Only Makoto Shinkai could have made this movie, and his voice is in no need of any comparative labels.”

-AnimeNewsNetwork

Your Name continues to pile on the accolades around the globe winning awards in just about every country except the United States. It even prompted Hayao Miyazaki to come out of retirement! (Well, we don’t know that for sure, but Miyazaki coming back to work on a new film was pretty well timed.)  We’ll keep our fingers crossed for you in hopes that you would be one of the lucky ones to have a select theater near you showing the film. I, unfortunately, didn’t win that lottery so I’ll just have to wait for the Blu-Ray release… which is still slated for October 26, 2017.

Maybe I can find cheap plane tickets?
