Reggie Fils-Aime Talks Unreal Engine 4 On Nintendo Switch

At GDC 2017, Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime talked, in a pre-recorded video, about the Nintendo Switch, and what it was like to bring the Unreal 4 Engine to the console.

He noted that the partnership with Epic Games (the developer of the engine) was made with one purpose: to bring even more developers to the console, and to develop games of the highest quality. He even extended an invitation to anyone who wanted to work on the Nintendo Switch, or bring their games to the console, stating, “We want to hear from you.”

In a twist though, he announced that certain titles that have been announced already for the Switch will be running on Unreal Engine 4. The biggest of which was the exclusive Shin Megami Tensei title that was unveiled at the Nintendo Switch reveal event, and the retro racer game Redout.

Although, he did say that even more games run on Unreal Engine 4 were coming, but would be announced when the development teams were ready to unveil them. This could mean a slew of E3 reveals, but it’s hard to say at present.

The anticipation for the Nintendo Switch is growing with each passing hour, as we count down to the release of the console on March 3rd.
