Is Tron: Uprising cancelled or not?

By Keith MitchellJanuary 11, 2013

There’s been a lot of talk on the web as of late and probably going even further back than that regarding the possible cancellation of Disney’s acclaimed Tron: Uprising show. If you haven’t been following the show (Really?) Tron: Uprising serves as a series between the original Tron movie and the recent sequel, Tron: Legacy.  I’m not going to go in-depth on the entire show as you can easily wiki it or find that else where. The concern here is following the cancellation of Disney’s Motorcity, another great show which was reported to not have a season two ordered. Apparently Tron: Uprising, despite having decent reviews and ratings which likely would have been better had Disney decided on a decent time slot for the show vs putting it on at odd times (Think Toonami) was reported by Theouthousers.com (Not relation to us) to also being cancelled.

Per Theouthousers.com, Eric Canete, who is one of the artists that worked on Tron: Uprising had posted on Twitter stating “We’re gonna look back at this show & think, “We really had something there.”. Now while he didn’t mention Tron: Uprising directly he did post an image of the show, leading to the conclusion that the show has been cancelled.  However beyond this there hasn’t been any official announcement that the show has been cancelled and hopefully after the last 3 episodes are released that we’ll hear something regarding this, either positive or negative.

One would think that a show that has been nominated for awards such as; Best Animated Special Production, Character Design in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production, Production Design in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production and Storyboarding in an Animated Television/Broadcast Production, as well as having a official soundtrack that was released just the other day would be secured for another season or at the very least have more life than just one season 1.

I’ve sent several emails to the House of Mouse for some clarification but I haven’t heard anything back and the way things on going I doubt that I will, but someway or somehow we’ll all find out exactly what whats going on.
