Symmetra The First Character In Overwatch To Have Two Ultimates

By Keith MitchellNovember 22, 2016

Looks like all of those Symmetra players are going to be very happy regarding the latest Overwatch Developer Update. This time around, Jeff Kaplan, explains what changes are upcoming and coming with the redesign of Symmetra – the first being that she’ll be the first character to get two ultimate powers. Her new ultimate will allow her to generate and place shields on our characters within a specific radius and does not require Symmetra to see her teammates to apply it on.  There have also been changes to her attack range and the ability to place six turrets, instead of three at the start, and a change to the turret cooldown – 12 seconds, down to 10 seconds. Changes to her teleporter include a larger health pool and the ability to regenerate health.

Lastly, her shield ability has been replaced with one more similar to Reinhart/Winston’s barrier, called Photon Barrier.

Jeff goes on to talk about when we can expect the next playable map, Oasis, as well as an entirely new social feature that hasn’t been discussed before, “Stay With Group”. This will allow gamers to basically form a party so that you can keep playing with the same group of people that you’re currently in a team with. I know I’ve always wanted something like this. It should help gamers stay more involved with the game and keep on playing with like-minded players.

These new abilities and changes will be available via the PTR in the upcoming weeks.
