Rumor: Is The Nintendo Switch Going To Be Priced At $250?

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been hearing lots of information regarding Nintendo’s upcoming hybrid console, the Nintendo Switch. The first batch of information was later to be proven correct by Nintendo, so as you can imagine the gaming community has been eating up the latest bit of news as having some possible truth to it. The latest round of news is surrounded by the possible price point for the system. While Nintendo hasn’t been very forthcoming with any new information, including the pricing, this hasn’t stopped the latest batch of rumors from circulating. This time we’re getting word that the Nintendo Switch may possibly end up with two different SKU’s, as reported by TechnoBuffalo.

According to Let’s play Video Games, who apparently has a source within the video game retail chain “GAME”, Nintendo plans to see the Switch in two different configurations. The first being a base form, which is priced at  £199.99. On top of that, there is another version that supposedly will include a game and more internal storage for £249.99. Oddly enough, there was also a Canadian Toys “R” Us listing that outed the pricing for the Nintendo Switch at $329.99 CAD. There was no other mention of another SKU and that listing has since been removed from the Toys “R” Us website, but thanks to the power of the internet we have a imaged thanks to that link being cached.

Ever since the official announcement and showing of the Nintendo Switch, fans everywhere have been attempting to speculate the pricing of the unit. The rumored $250 price point puts right in the sights of many guess, including those of our own. If this turns out to be true, then this puts the Nintendo Switch just under both the Xbox One S (500GB) and PlayStation 4 Slim by fifty dollars, as both of those are priced at $299.99. We won’t have an official price announcement until Nintendo releases more information, which is already dated for January 12th, 2017.
