XCOM 2 PC Now Has Controller Support

By Keith MitchellNovember 8, 2016

When 2K Games and Firaxis Games released XCOM 2 for the PC, the first thing we asked about was controller support. That was shot down, as the keyboard and mouse were seen as the best control method for the game. Then XCOM 2 ended up making its way to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, with controller support. We then again asked for controller support on the PC and were told that it was something that Firaxis was thinking about. For months since, we’ve asked and nagged for controller support, over and over.

Well, those days are over as Firaxis Games has deployed controller support for XCOM 2 on the PC. With the latest XCOM 2 patch, controller support has been added for non-Steam Controllers, meaning the Xbox 360 and Xbox One controllers.

Hello, Commander.

Starting today, XCOM 2 on PC can now be played using a controller. XCOM 2 has plug & play compatibility with both the Xbox One and Xbox 360 controllers. Alternate controller options may require additional user adjustments. Fans have been requesting controller support and we’re glad to deliver.

We have been hard at work tailoring the interface specifically for controllers so that it provides a level of comfort and accessibility that our players expect. The intel below shows exactly how controllers will work both in the strategy layer, as well as on the battlefield.

If you’ve been holding out on picking up XCOM 2 because you couldn’t be the best couch commander there is or ever was, now you don’t have any more excuses to not get it.
