Cryptozoic Entertainment’s Attack On Titan Deck-Building Game

By Cody MaynardOctober 22, 2016

Years after its initial release, Attack on Titan is still incredibly relevant. It’s just one of those properties that will always be around, filling up convention halls with little brown jackets. If you’re one of the millions of loyal Attack On Titan followers, then you’ll likely be excited for this new deck-building game, available now through Cryptozoic Entertainment.

Cryptozoic Entertainment is well-known for releasing games based on popular licensed properties—The Walking Dead, Adventure Time, Rick and Morty—and they’ve got some pretty great deck-building games to their name too, like the Street Fighter Deck-Building Game. I’ve had a chance to play a few of their titles, and they deliver. I’m a fan of the show, so I’d love to get my hands on this Attack on Titan adaptation, available here for $41.99.

Here’s a short description of what players will be doing, along with some details on what’s in the box:

“Play as Eren, Mikasa, Armin and many others as you struggle to keep the Titans at bay. New to this Cerberus Engine game is movement. The location of your Hero in the game area matters. Protect the walls or watch them crumble. But do not lose hope, no matter the odds and no matter who among you falls to the onslaught. It may soon be up to you to land the killing blow that will turn the tide of battle…”

Contents Summary:
• 188 Game Cards
• 8 Oversized Hero Cards
• 5 Wall Sections
• 10 Wall Tokens
• 8 Character Standees
• 5 Plastic Standee Bases
• 1 Turn Marker
• 1 Rulebook

It looks like there’s quite a bit of stuff packed inside the box, so the price point isn’t exactly surprising. For people who’ve never played a deck-building game before, just know that they can be a little confusing at first. However, the Attack on Titan brand alone is more than enough incentive for fans to break into this specific tabletop genre.
