Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night has been delayed until 2018

Alright fans, if you were anticipating the release of Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, I got a bit of bad news for you. Originally slated for a March 2017 release date, the title has now been delayed until sometime in 2018.  Definitely a bit of sad news, but I figured this would actually happen, especially since  of all the stretch goals that the funding blew past.

For those who don’t remember, the original funding goal was $500,000.00, to which the final total at the end of the Kickstarter was $5.5 million dollars. Every stretch goal was hit and the game is still getting funding via Paypal / Slacker Backing.

Word of the delay comes directly from the man himself, Koji Igarsahi.

The last thing I want to do is keep our backers waiting, but after receiving such incredible support, I feel responsible for delivering the best product I possibly can. Again, I offer my sincerest apologies.

All of us on the campaign and development sides of the team are looking forward to playing the finished game as soon as we can, but as IGA says, we also want this game to be “done right the first time.”

We’ll continue to keep you updated on the development process every step of the way. (In fact, the next regularly scheduled update, featuring some songs and commentary from Michiru Yamane, is just about ready to go. And as IGA mentioned, you can expect more news about the development process as soon as it’s available.)

Thanks again for all you’ve done to make such an exciting project possible.

But damn, I’m really hoping that this doesn’t turn out into another Mighty No.9 – Delay, after delay. What do you think about the delay? Expected? Sad? Sound off in the comments below.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is now scheduled for a 2018 release date and will be released on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS Vita and Wii U.
