New Sun and Moon Pokemon Revealed at 2016 World Championships

By Tyler KelbaughAugust 19, 2016
Pokemon Sun

In honor of the 2016 Pokemon World Championships, new Pokemon have been revealed on The Official Pokemon Channel. While the world’s best trainers battle it out in Pokken Fighters, Pokemon Trading Card Game and Pokemon video games, the rest of us have yet another new Sun and Moon trailer to enjoy.

Four new Pokemon join Sun and Moon’s lineup!

Crabrawler, Sandygast, Palossand and Stufful are joining the massive batch of new Pokemon found in Sun and Moon.

Crabrawler
Crabrawler’s not the most handsome fellow

Crabrawler is a fighting type with the Hyper Cutter or Iron Fist ability. Hyper Cutter prevents a Pokemon’s attack stat from dropping under most circumstances, while Iron Fist boosts the power of any punching move.

Sandygast

Palossand
Palossand

Sandygast and it’s evolution Palossand are Ghost/Ground types with the Water Compaction ability. This new ability is thus far unique to Sandygast and Palossand, and it lets these Pokemon sharply boost their defense upon being hit by a water move. These two sandcastles certainly aren’t the most creative of Pokemon, but at least they look a bit tougher than Vanilluxe!

Stufful is adorable
Stufful is adorable

Last but not least, the adorable bear cub Stufful. Stufful is the pre-evolution of Bewear, and it’s a Normal/Fighting type with the Fluffy or Klutz ability. Fluffy lets Stufful take half damage against moves that make direct contact, like Tackle, but also double damage from Fire moves. Klutz, meanwhile, prevents the user from using held items. This sounds useless, but players can use item swapping abilities to trick unsuspecting foes into using an item with a bad effect.

As usual, you can read about Crabrawler, Sandygast, Palossand and Stufful on the Pokemon Sun and Moon website. The game launches worldwide on November 18th. Until then, you can get your Pokemon fix by streaming the World Championships on Pokemon’s twitch channel.
