Gears of war 4 On PC is looking mighty good right now

By Keith MitchellAugust 18, 2016

When The Coalition had ported Gears of War: Ultimate to Windows 10, it had its fair share of issues. Definitely rough around the edges and had several key performance related issues, but was still a fairly decent port (See our review here). So when it was finally confirmed that Gears of War 4 would make an appearance on the PC, I wasn’t sure what to expect. More than anything, I was hoping that it wasn’t just a “simple” port and that Microsoft and Coalition would add more PC-centric options to the title.

Well, after seeing a couple of videos that have emerged from Gamescom 2016, I’m happy to report that the majority of my fears have been lifted. The first of two videos showcase the amount of graphical options that will be available on the PC version. Going further, there is an indicator that will change depending on what options you choice and it will tell you if you’ll be able to run it comfortably or not. There’s even a built-in benchmark mode!

It’s a thing of beauty for sure.

Check out the first video below. Credit goes to HomeCinema-FR.com, for recording the footage at Gamescom 2016.

The second video also comes from HomeCinema-FR.com, and this time around we’re treated to some actual gameplay on the PC. Not 100% if this footage has been seen before or not, but I know this is definitely the first time we’ve seen much of any footage running on PC. It looks pretty smooth and I’m not seeing any skipping / hitching from the video. Though, I would have loved to know the exact specs of the PC that this was being ran on. It’s probably some super ultra SLI beast being used.

If this is what the game looks like right now, well we’re all in for a treat when it comes to the PC version.
