Transformers: The Movie Turns 30 Today! New Information on Upcoming Bluray!

By Karl SmartAugust 9, 2016

The date: August 8, 1986
The place: Any Cinema on the planet Earth

For the first time ever, children all over the world got to see Optimus Prime and Megatron do battle on the big screen… And see a lot of fan favorite characters die in horrible horrible deaths that had them crying all the way home. This is the legacy of the 1986 Transformers Movie which officially turns 30 today.

Now I personally love the living crap out of the film. I could go into a full review, but I might save that for the upcoming 30th Anniversary Bluray that Shout Factory is currently in the stages of restoring and transferring from 35mm film to 4K digital perfection.

Today, to celebrate that milestone, Shout Factory released the trailer and a bonus feature for that release as you can see below with more information on the upcoming re-release

On September 13th, Shout! Factory, in collaboration with Hasbro Studios, celebrates this iconic piece of animation with three new home entertainment releases.

Available for the first time on Blu-ray, Transformers: The Movie Limited Edition, 30th Anniversary Steelbook (2-Blu-ray™ set + Digital Copy) comes with a highly collectible Steelbook packaging that features striking key art, all-new HD transfer of the movie in widescreen and full frame on 2 Blu-rays™, immersive bonus content including brand-new featurettes, plus a digital copy of the movie.

Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Edition Two-Disc Blu-ray set includes all-new HD transfer of the movie in widescreen and full frame, new bonus material and a digital copy of the movie. And Transformers: The Movie 30th Anniversary Edition DVD version features the newly remastered movie in widescreen, new bonus material and a digital copy of the movie.

Bonus features include:

  • ‘Til All Are One – A brand-new, comprehensive documentary looking back at Transformers: The Movie with members of the cast and crew, including story consultant Flint Dille, cast members Gregg Berger, Neil Ross, Dan Gilvezan, singer/songwriter Stan Bush, composer Vince Dicola and others!
  • Audio Commentary with Director Nelson Shin, story consultant Flint Dille and star Susan Blu
  • Featurettes
  • Animated Storyboards
  • Trailers and TV Spots

Stay turned to The Outerhaven for a review of this re-released classic!
