Thousands of Overwatch Players Already Banned

By Josh PiedraJune 2, 2016

Blizzard Entertainment stated before the official launch of their class-based first person shooter Overwatch, that they would unmercifully ban any player caught cheating permanently.  The folks at Blizzard stuck to their word and just a short week and a half after the game’s launch, thousands of players have been banned under Blizzard’s anti-cheating policy.  If you think a permanent ban will lead you to just getting another copy, then you’re in for a rude awakening.  Cheaters who have been banned were re-banned after purchasing a second copy of Overwatch.  Some users who purchased a third copy of the game were also banned!

In China, Blizzard is taking an even stricter approach.  All you have to do in China is ATTEMPT to cheat and Blizzard will drop the ban hammer on your account. Here in the United States, you will not be banned if you attempt to cheat, though. You’d actually have to fully commit to cheating in order to lose your right to play the game.  1,572 bans were issued in China alone.  The icing on the cake for China is that Blizzard unveiled the names of all 1,572 people who were banned for cheating so that anyone could see who did it.

If you think you can hide behind a VPN then you’ll have to think twice once again as Blizzard also carried out bans on VPN hidden accounts as well.  No matter how smart you think you are, Blizzard will be one step ahead of you on this one.

Play smart and play legit… and if you want to legally cheat, then just play Bastion.
