Nordic Games to Publish Retail Version of Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition

By Keith MitchellMay 23, 2016

Microsoft and Moon Studios have partnered up with Nordic Games to bring a physical version of Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition to retail for PC. Two versions of the game, a standard edition and a limited edition, will be launching on June 14, 2016. It’s thanks to the fans of the title that this was possible, who loved every bit of the game and asked for even more content, as cited by the Moon Studios team.

“Since we released Ori and the Blind Forest, we’ve received many mails, tweets and requests from fans asking for a boxed retail release, so we’re extremely pleased to finally make everyone’s wish come true,” said Thomas Mahler, CEO of Moon Studios. “We hope that all of you will be pleased with what we’ve put together for this retail release of Ori and the Blind Forest Definitive Edition. We can’t wait to finally see Ori and the Blind Forest on shelves and we once again want to thank all of our fans and everyone who supported Moon and Ori over the last few years – we’re deeply humbled and appreciative, thank you so much!”

For those who’ve already played the original version of Ori and the Blind Forest, the definitive edition has received some updates, such as new abilities, more info on Naru’s backstory, new areas and more.

  • Packed with new and additional content: new areas, new abilities, more story sequences, multiple difficulty modes, fast travel between areas and much more!
  • Discover Naru’s past in two brand new environments
  • Master two powerful new abilities — Dash and Light Burst
  • Find new secret areas and explore Nibel faster by teleporting between Spirit Wells

While most gamers will be picking up the PC standard edition, which will retail for $19.99, the limited edition which will be priced at $29.99, which has my eye as it includes a custom Ori and the Blind Forest: Definitive Edition steelbox case, a soundtrack, two double-sided A3 posters and two postcards.
