Alan Young Passes Away

By Josh PiedraMay 21, 2016

We here at The Outerhaven are saddened to learn that screen and voice actor, Alan Young, has passed away at the age of 96 from natural causes.  He passed at the Motion Picture & Television Home retirement community in Los Angeles, Califnornia on Thursday.

908000-paperone_largeYoung was best known for playing Wilbur in the 60’s television comedy Mr. Ed, but he also went on to become a voice actor serving as the voice of Scrooge McDuck in Mickey’s Christmas Carol and Ducktails. Young also made an appearance in anime as he played the robot as well as Keypop in Sandy Frank’s Battle of the Planets dub of Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.  He also lent his voice to several characters in the Kingdom Hearts video game franchise.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Young was born in November 1919 in Northumberland, England. Hhe moved to Edinburgh and then near Vancouver when he was a child. After he got his own radio show on CBC he served in the Canadian navy and army during World War II. He then made his film debut in Margie in 1946.

The Outerhaven would like to extend our condolences to the Young family during this time of loss.  Thank you for your contributions to the world and may you rest in peace.
