MICHI to Be a Guest at Otakon 2016

By LizLizMay 13, 2016

Baltimore, MD (May 12, 2016) – MICHI, a singer known for her work with such anime titles as “Dagashi Kashi,” will be a guest at Otakon 2016, says Otakorp Inc.

Nineteen-year-old MICHI is the first Anisong singer to debut from Okinawa. Produced by Elements Garden, a group that ranks among the leading creators of anime songs, MICHI began her promising career with her debut single, “Cry for the Truth/Secret Sky,” which served as the opening and ending theme songs to the TV Anime “Rokka -Braves of the Six Flowers.”

A native of Koza, known as Okinawa’s city of music, MICHI developed the straightforward and carefree singing voice for which she is known. Fans love her combination of expressiveness and innocence, as she paves the way for a new generation of Anisong singers.

In just the two months after her debut, she’s found huge success with her performances overseas in Indonesia and Singapore. Despite her inexperience, she has proven her ability to overcome any language barrier in performances, with her skills as a natural entertainer helping her to share her love for anime worldwide.

Her second single, “Checkmate!?”, the opening theme song for the TV anime “Dagashi Kashi,” was released in January 2016. Her soon-to-be-released third single, “Realistic!”, will serve as the ending theme song for the upcoming TV anime series “Kuromukuro” and will come out on May

Otakon 2016 will be held August 12-14 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, MD.

ABOUT OTAKON AND OTAKORP, INC.: Now entering its twenty-third year, Otakon is an annual celebration of Japanese and East Asian popular culture, and also one of the largest gatherings of fans in the United States. Since 1999, Otakon has been held in Baltimore, Maryland; currently, Otakon is one of Baltimore’s few large, city-wide events, drawing over 34,000 people for three days each year (for a paid attendance of over 100,000 turnstile attendees). Otakon is a membership based convention sponsored by Otakorp, Inc., a Pennsylvania-based, 501(c)3 educational non-profit whose mission is to promote the appreciation of Asian culture, primarily through its media and entertainment. Otakorp, Inc. is directed by an all-volunteer, unpaid staff – we are run by fans, for fans.
