Nvidia Releases Direct Footage of DOOM Running on Vulkan

During the recent Nvidia event that took place in Austin, Texas this past week, Nvidia took to the stage and showed some very cool stuff. That cool stuff was ID Software’s and Bethesda’s upcoming DOOM, which was running on Nvidia’s latest video card, the GTX 1080 with the Vulkan API. The GTX 1080 was able to run DOOM at 1080p at max settings and maintain a solid 60 frames per second, as well as an uncapped 200 frames per second. For those wondering what the Vulkan API is, let’s just say it is the next-generation of the OpenGL API and developed by Khronos. In that regard, it is also a competitor to both Microsoft’s DirectX and AMD’s Mantle. For a better explanation of what Vulkan is, head on over to Khronos.org.

And while countless people who were in attendance recorded the footage and shared it with the world, Nvidia has finally released the full HD footage over at their YouTube channel.

In addition, they’ve also provided access to the full uncompressed footage as well, free for download here. DOOM launches for the PC on May 12, 2016, for $59.99.
