An All New Ratchet & Clank Animated Film Hitting Theaters on April 29th

By Keith MitchellMarch 30, 2016

Who knew that a scrappy platforming title that was created back during the PlayStation 2 days would end up being one of the more popular and successful games of all time. Well that’s exactly what happened with Insomnaic Games’s title, Ratchet & Clank. It is easily one of my favorite gaming series, sadly one that I haven’t been able to enjoy since the final release that was back in 2013. I’m pretty sure that I wasn’t the only one who was saddened about that, especially as I’ve seen several internet petitions asking that Sony get the dynamic duo back onto the PlayStation. And with the release of the PlayStation 4, what better time was there to finally make it happen.

And boy did it happen! During E3 2016, Sony finally took to the stage and announced that a re-visioned Ratchet & Clank from the PlayStation 2 would be “re-imagined” for the PlayStation 4. Believe me when I said that the applause was deafening, I’m still having a bit of an issue hearing. Fast-forward to 2016 where we’re nearing ever-so-close to the release of the rebooted Ratchet & Clank title, but that’s not all we’re getting.

rrr-movie-01To coincide with the release of the new game is an upcoming CGI film that will re-tell the origins of our heroes. Directed by Jericca Cleland and Kevin Munroe, with an original screenplay by T.J Fixman, who happens to be a former senior member of Insomnaic Games. This new film will help bridge the gap for anyone who has never had a chance to play any of the Ratchet & Clank titles. For fans who did enjoy the previously released Ratchet & Clank games, well you’re in for a treat also, as several members from the past games will lend their voices to the characters you’ve come to love over the years. Combined with some of Hollywood’s own talent such as Rosario Dawson, John Goodman, Paul Giamatti, Jim Ward and even Sylvester Stallone just to name a few, this looks to be the ultimate video game movie.

Ratchet & Clank the movie will be released into theaters on April 29, 2016 in North America and has a running time of 94 minutes. For more information on the upcoming movie, be sure to check out the official Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/RatchetandClankMovie.
