Open Beta for Orcs Must Die! Goes Online Next Week

Tomorrow, beta testers with have to say goodbye as the Orcs Must Die! Unchained servers will go offline in preparation for the official release.

The developer Robot Entertainment posted on Facebook and the official Orcs Must Die! website that the open beta of Orcs Must Die! Unchained will be launched on on Tuesday, March 29th. Since there will be 6 days until gamers can play Unchained again, Robot Entertainment urges players to continue playing the previous installments in the series in order to keep the fingers and mind sharp. To make sure that everything goes according to plan, the team will be wiping all accounts currently registered within the game. All players will be given a fresh start regardless of if they are new or a veteran.

Despite the oncoming threat of account erasure, players of the closed beta won’t have anything to fear. Robot Entertainment promises that all in-game purchases through the closed beta will carry over to the public release. This includes all Founder-Pack content and gold. However, the gold will be returned at the new open beta gold rate and the Founder Pack will be rolled back out when they are transitioned over to the open beta. For those familiar with the closed beta, it will unfortunately take a little longer to receive the Bloodspike and Temper perks. While we don’t have a set date, Robot Entertainment assures that they will return “when they are re-released back into the game.”

Not too shabby considering that usually the closing of accounts in other games results in the player taking a permanent loss and losing everything instead.

For those unfamiliar with the Orcs Must Die! video games, the series is an action tower-defense series. By using a variety of spells, traps, and weapons, players can go toe-to-toe with hoards of Orcs and other monsters. The main goal of the game is to protect portals known as Rifts, stay alive, and rack up points that are used to collect skull tokens that are redeemed for more goodies to kill enemies. Since the release of Orcs Must Die! 2, players have been able to team up cooperatively with a friend for more beat-em up chaos.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained comes with the promise of:

  • 15 playable heroes
  • More enemy mobs
  • A greater selection of traps, minions, and spells
  • Greater co-op play including 5 v 5 multiplayer
  • And much more!
The new characters of Orcs Must Die! Unchained. 3 are unlockable later on within the game.

Orcs Must Die! Unchained will be available for free on the PC. To download the game, you can visit either Steam or the official Orcs Must Die! website. All that you have to do on the Orcs Must Die! website is register an account.

Don’t worry, it’s also free to register.
