Razer Launches New Blade Gaming Notebook

By Clinton Bowman-ChristieMarch 15, 2016

Razer, well known for their Chroma brand of computer accessories, as well as their Blade line of gaming notebook computers, sent out a press release earlier this morning highlighting their newest edition to the Blade Notebook.

Boasting a 14-inch screen, and a display resolution of 3200×1800, the new Razer Blade houses the latest 6th Generation Intel Core i7 quad-core processor, and an NVIDIA GTX970M GPU with 6GB of VRAM, along with PCIe SSD technology which offers up to three times faster speeds than traditional solid-state drives, and comes included with Killer Wireless-AC and 16GB of DD4 dual-channel memory, all in a light-weight and slimline package, weighing 4.25 pounds and measuring 0.7 inches thick.

According to Razer, the new Razer Blade will be the second laptop in the world to be equipped with individually backlit RGB keys, second only to Razer’s Blade Stealth Ultrabook, utilizing Razer’s Chroma technology to provide millions of color customization combos for the Blade’s anti-ghosted keyboard.

Min-Liang Tan, co-founder and CEO of Razer had the following to say about the Blade gaming notebook:

We are getting much more aggressive as far as price point, but that hasn’t come at a cost to the performance or design of the Razer Blade…We’ve improved nearly every aspect of the 14-inch laptop, from CPU and GPU performance to system memory and port selection. Chroma technology unlocks an unprecedented, immersive experience on a gaming laptop.

The new Razer Blade will also feature Thunderbolt 3 connectivity via the compact USB-C connector, and will be compatible with the upcoming Razer Core external graphics enclosure as part of a beta program upon launch.

In addition, the Razer Blade gaming Laptop will follow the Razer Blade Stealth’s direct-to-consumer pricing model to keep costs low, decreasing the price from $2399 for it’s QHD+ laptop to $1999 for the 256GB PCIe SSD model, a $400 difference in price. The 512GB option will be available for $2199

While units will begin shipping in April, and further retail availability will be announced later this year, consumers may begin pre-ordering the Razer Blade laptop today on RazerStore.com.
