VIZ Media set to launch a 24/7 anime channel via gaming console?

By Keith MitchellJune 29, 2012

As originally reported over at Crunchyroll.com, VIZ Media is in the process of putting together a 24/7 steaming anime channel, Neonalley – http://www.neonalley.com, that will only be accessible via gaming console. Which console however is unknown however VIZ will be at the upcoming Anime Expo in Los Angeles on June 29th, so I’m sure we’ll find out then.

The appeal of NeonAlley it seems  at least to me is that they are targetting both new comers to anime and the non-hardcore anime viewers. Why would I say that? Well seeing that they are only showing DUBBED anime I can’t see where anime purist will be happy abot that. No I will not go into detail about that, it’s pretty well known that there’s a dubbing vs subbing debating everytime this subject comes up.  Per VIZ / Neonalley they’ll be showing the following animes;

  • NARUTO Shippuden
  • Tiger & Bunny
  • Inuyasha – The Final Act
  • ZETMAN
  • Lagrange – The Flower of Rin-ne-
  • Vampire Knight
  • NARUTO
  • Death Note
  • Kekkaishi
  • Berserk: The Gold Age Arc I – The Egg of the King
  • Bleach the Movie
  • NARUTO Shippuden the Movie

And that’s just for starters. This will be interesting and I hope that it takes off, but does it really need to be accessible via a gaming console?
