Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland Released

By Walter MackFebruary 3, 2016

“Give me a ‘hell’, give me a ‘yeah'”! After a successful Kickstarter campaign, the movie sequel to Spike TV’s beloved Blue Mountain State has finally released today digitally on iTunes. Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland takes place right after the abrupt cancellation after season 3.

With Linebacker Thad Castle (Alan Ritchson) now having graduate, Quarterback Alex Moran (Darin Brooks) is now captain and king of the Goat house. This new-found role is threatened when the Goat house is under risk of being taken away from the football team. Former team mates reunite, with the former agreeing to help, but with a condition (of course): Castle wants the biggest party in the history of the Goat house and Blue Mountain State to be thrown in his honor, under the title of “Thadland”.

The majority of the original cast makes a return. Most notably, Sam Jones III who played freshman running back Craig Shilo returns after his disappearance after season 1 (due to the actor’s real life legal issues). Sadly, the cocaine loving former starting quarterback, Trevor (played by Arrow’s Stephen Amell) doesn’t make an appearance.

Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland can be purchased digitally starting at $13 here, with more bonuses come with the higher tier purchases.

The original Blue Mountain State series can also be viewed in its entirety on Netflix.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
