Nintendo removes the boobie slider from Xenoblade Chronicles X

By Keith MitchellNovember 15, 2015

While we touched on this in our most recent podcast I felt this desired it’s own mention. I don’t know about you, but it seems that video games are under attack via censorship. First it was the recent changes to Street Fighter V‘s Rainbow Mika and Cammy, now it seems Nintendo has also joined the club in thanks to their recent change to Xenoblade Chronicles X.  In the upcoming title, it seems that there’s a slight change from the current Japanese version, in the fact that you won’t be able to change / adjust with the bust sizes in the character customization.

Yep, the “boobie slider” as it was so passionately called, is now gone. And while I don’t have the game in hand to show you the differences, the folks over at Game Explain have done the leg work and produced a video that explains the changes. Now, before you get all bent out of shape, if you’re able to customize just about everything on your character, shouldn’t it be completely everything? Why is it not a big deal in certain locales, but not for others? This is the human body people and it does come in various shapes and sizes.

And while I’m semi-joking about the changes, I’m also a bit cautious about the subtle changes that are happening with video games, it’s as if we’re under attack. And if you’re wondering why I’m also not against the changes to Lin’s costume, let’s just say that she’s a 13 year old character… yeah, she needs some damned clothes.

What do you think about the changes to the game? While I don’t feel it’s worth not picking up the game, do you feel the changes are warranted and part of a bigger picture?
