Welcome to the world of Yo-Kai Watch!

Yo-Kai Watch is about a young man by the name of Nate Adams, who happens to stumble across a mysterious Yo-Kai who calls himself Whisper, and is bestowed the mystical Yo-Kai Watch, which allows the user to view creatures like Whisper, who are normally invisible to the human eye. Along the way, Nate and Whisper (who makes himself Nate’s ‘butler,’ much to Nate’s chagrin,) meet and befriend several different Yo-Kai on their daily adventures.

Each chapter in the manga features different Yo-Kai, such as Jibanyan, a cat who was killed in a car accident while trying to impress it’s previous owner, Mochismo, a rice cake Yo-Kai angered by human wastefulness, and others. Nate even comes across some rivals along the way, balancing out the initial presence of Yo-Kai that were befriended. The manga is rife with wacky adventures that will keep you entertained throughout.

Final Word:

For something that seems like a knock-off of Pokèmon initially, Yo-Kai Watch is a fun manga for elementary school children and teenagers as well. The majority of the Yo-Kai have a specific themes tied to them, such as negativity or forgetfulness, and children can easily relate to the themes present. Parents will be pleased to have their children interested in a series such as this one.
