Netflix and Marvel’s Jessica Jones Official Trailer is live

By Walter MackOctober 23, 2015

While we’ve gotten bits and pieces from shorts and pictures of Netflix’s and Marvel’s upcoming Jessica Jones series, today we’re treated to the official trailer that finally gives us what we’ve wanted, which was more! Hot on the heels of the wildly successful Daredevil comes Marvel’s Jessica Jones. The series will follow Jones (played by Krysten Ritter), who deals with PTSD after her encounter with the Purple Man (David Tennant), a super villain capable of mind control. Returning is Claire Temple (Rosario Dawson) who was last seen on Marvel’s Daredevil. Mike Colter takes on the role of Luke Cage and will be receiving his own series in 2016’s Marvel’s Luke Cage. Marvel’s Iron Fist is set to air after Cage before they all converge in Marvel’s Defenders (much like what happened with The Avengers).
Other than reading the older Marvel comics to get the whole story, the official trailer paints a vivid picture of Jessica Jones backstory as well as giving more spotlight to the main characters, which include Luke Cage and the Purple Man, among others.

Honestly I’m happy that this series actually made it to production and is getting the press that it has for several reasons. Not only has Jessica Jones been seen as a B-tier, maybe even a C-tier character in the Marvel universe, but her story is one that aligns among some of the more realistic heroes such as Dare Devil, Spider man as well as other heroes that many people can relate their lives to. And given the success of Netflix’s Dare Devil series, which was only slated for one season but ended up with a new season coming in 2016, I can’t wait to see what kind of success that Jessica Jones gets.

And if you want to debate if this series is true to the comic character, well just check out the trailer, then go read up on Jessica Jones via her Marvel wiki and do the comparison. Hell, most of her trailer is reenacting scenes from the comic.

Be sure to catch the entire series of Marve’s Jessica Jones when it releases on November 20, 2015.

Note: Marvel’s Netflix titles (as well as their ABC shows, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, Marvel’s Agent Carter, and the upcoming Marvel’s Damage Control) all take place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) meaning they all take place in the same universe which currently includes The Avengers and their solo movies, Guardians of the Galaxy, and Ant-Man.

Walter is a California native. He is currently in his last year of college pursuing a B.A. in English, but is often mistaken for a freshman...or a middle school tourist on occassion. His earliest gaming experience was Pokemon Red version on the Gameboy color, which he played actively. He would dabble with the Nintendo 64 and Playstation 2 for a bit before transitioning to many years of F2P MMOs. He then moved on to League of Legends, with whom he as an on and off again relationship. He currently spends most of his game time on his Playstation 4. He's also a bit of a Marvel nut.
