REWRITE Gets Television Anime

By Josh PiedraSeptember 27, 2015
Rewrite

At the conclusion of the Charlotte television anime series, a special announcement was made that a television anime adaptation of KEY’s Visual Novel Rewrite has been green lit!

8-Bit will be the studio helping KEY produce the television anime. The adaptation will be written by Tanaka Romeo (Cross Channel) and directed by Tensho (Kiniro + Mosaic).

The original 2011 Rewrite visual novel takes place in Kazamatsuri, a fictional city where civilization and greenery co-exist. In fact, the trees have grown so numerous, they are said to be nature’s equivalent to a man-made city.  Tennouji Kotarou lives here. He’s a high school student who has the ability to rewrite his own body; he can become stronger and faster at any time he chooses. He investigates supernatural mysteries with five girls from his school’s Occult Club.

KEY is known for their other visual novels AIR, Kanon, Clannad, and Little Busters!… all of which have been adapted into an anime series.  Rewrite was originally written by Ryukishi07 (Higurashi no Naku Koro ni) and overseen by Jun Maeda (who has also brought us Angel Beats and Charlotte).
