Elgato unveils their latest capture device, the Elgato HD 60 Pro

By Keith MitchellSeptember 14, 2015

For the past few days, Elgato has been teasing something new on their website, a new capture device of sorts. However the hints have been cryptic and only those select few that have been testing this device, for the better portion of two months even knew what was going on and what it was and of course they weren’t talking.

But that wait is over today, as Elgato has announced the HD 60 Pro, a PCIe card that will allow you to stream and record from your PlayStation, Xbox or Wii U directly from your PC. Looks like exactly what you already have with the Elgato HD 60, but now you have the option of having it permanently attached to your PC.

I’m sure the benefit of having the device as a PCIe card will lower the latency, which is great for streaming however this card also caters to those games who have their consoles close near their PC. And while I’m sure there’s a high amount of those, especially streamers / professional gamers, I wonder just how much this improves on the HD 60. I’d love to hear from those who have been testing this card to give us some example / evidence on how much better it is. Anyone want to bite on that?

The Elgato HD 60 Pro will cost you $199.99 and is for sale now via their website here.

Now that the word is out, what do you think about it? Do you already own an Elgato HD 60 and if you, are you tempted to upgrade or are you content with your current device?

Update: There’s already a video on Youtube regarding the card, check it out below.
