Yooka-Laylee Kickstarter launched today and is already a success

By Keith MitchellMay 1, 2015

That was fast, wasn’t it. Playtonics Games announced this week that they would start a Kickstater campagin for their upcoming spiritual successor to Banjo-Kazooie, Yooka-Laylee. The campaign launched today and has already been funded! Yep, that’s Sonic the Hedgehog worthy fast. In less than one day, the project has managed to collect $408,000 (at the time of this article) and there’s still 46 days left to go.

Damn, I can’t believe it was that fast.

I’m going to go and guess that everyone has been waiting on this gem and now that this isn’t a “Rare” developed title, we’ll see this on not only the PC but the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U now.

But don’t stop tossing that money to Playtonics, they got a several stretch goals that I’m sure they’d love (and use) to meet. Head on over to their Kickstarter page and make a pledge or two.

The highly-anticipated project will feature worlds crafted by the artists behind the genre’s most beloved classics, plus a dream soundtrack created in collaboration with legendary composers David Wise (Donkey Kong Country series), Steve Burke (Kameo: Elements of Power) and Grant Kirkhope (Banjo-Kazooie series).

PLAYTONIC is using Kickstarter as a means of both expanding the scope of YOOKA-LAYLEE and bringing it to more platforms. The game is currently planned for release on PC, Mac, Linux, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Wii U, with release timings dependent on the success of the crowdfunding campaign.

For more info on what Yooka-Laylee is and what Playtonics is up to, check them out at www.playtonicgames.com and @Playtonicgames.
